• If you fancy yourself a chef in training Dean & Deluca is the the kind of grocery store you'll want to spend hours in. In the late 70's a school teacher turned cheese merchant teamed up with a business manager to open the kind of neighborhood store where at home chefs could score refined ingredients. Today Dean & Deluca has a full range of upmarket grocery such as fresh fish, vegetables, delicious cheeses, handmade breads and pastries, and a long list of deli items.
• Famous for carrying special products you won't find anywhere else in the city, Dean & Deluca has become a favorite stop for New Yorkers looking for host gifts and fancy grocery items that their regular grocer doesn't have. Tourists stop by to marvel at shelf after shelf of exotic products they can't get at home, and perhaps to stash a few in their suitcase. 
• There's a coffee bar and a full to-go section with gourmet options such as New England Clam Chowder and Mozzarella, Tomato, and Pesto Sandwich on scrumptious grain breads, which makes this an ideal spot to stop for a quick lunch when you're in a hurry.
