Pieminister

What we love…

  • Quick, delicious, and made with fresh, local ingredients, Pieminister is easily one of our favorite fast-food joints in London.
  • If you aren't from the UK you might consider pie strictly a dessert commodity, something sweet stuffed with apples and sugar that you indulge in after your meal. In the UK however, 'pies' are classic comfort food that come filled with savory ingredients like chicken, mushrooms, cheese, and veggies. Sometimes they're topped with gravy, and they're always served with a heaping side of mushy peas and mashed potatoes. In fact pies so popular that there are a number of British awards each year for the best pie in town, which of course Pieminister has been winning year over year.
  • All the Pieminister pies are made from responsibly sourced, free range, and natural ingredients—a lot of which are sourced locally. Part of the love we have for Pieminister is that they've taken classic recipes and pimped them out so you feel like you're getting a gourmet meal, that's still really affordable. Try the 'Kate and Sidney Pie', a classic blend of tender British beef steak, kidneys & real ale, or The Chicken of Aragon Pie made with free range local chicken, smoked bacon and tarragon. If you're not into meat try the 'Heidi Pie' (our personal fave) that's stuffed with somerset goats' cheese, sweet potato, spinach and red onion. We topped ours with the works, gravy, grated cheese, and shallots, with a side of mashed potatoes and minty peas. This was a seriously filling meal, and bonus the whole thing is under £8.00!
  • These extremely filling single serve pies are the quintessential lunchtime favorite, especially on chilly London days when you need a hearty meal. They come in a cute little take-out box so if your eyes are bigger than your stomach and you can't finish the whole thing (yep it's that much food) you can easily pack it up to take back to your hotel.
  • Although Pieminister has only been around since 2002, these little pies have became so popular with the locals that you can now find them in grocery stores, farmers markets and choice pubs located throughout the city. During the warmer months Pieminister runs a food truck called PMobile (which stands for pie on the move), that can be found at festivities around town.
