Elie Tahari

What we love…

  • Elie Tahari immigrated from Israel in the early 1970's with next to no money, and no formal training in fashion design.
  • In those early days he worked the garment district doing electrical work, and selling clothing on the side. Although he didn't create the tube top, he is credited with making it popular with SoHo's hippy boho girls in the disco 70's. Within just four years he had his first shop on Madison Avenue, dressing some of New York's most fashionable.
  • Today you'll find no hint of tube tops or sequined disco balls, instead Tahari is full of classic tailored suits, and modern dresses that make boring office wear beautiful. Tailored suits are perhaps the main draw, but you'll also find plenty of conservative dresses, and separates to build your work wardrobe.
  • Clearly Mr. Tahari knows what women want to wear. He's able to roll with the times, giving modern women exactly what they want, sometimes before they even know they want it.
